Getting your car to last longer

It is a new day and time. The economy is now considerably different. With it, most Americans have less spending money today as they did before. In regards to the auto industry you are able to witness it.With the big three carmakers always losing money, you have proof that big items just aren't being bought as much as before.

With that being the case most Americans will have to keep all their cars much longer. When you do keep your car much longer it will need more maintenance. The better you are able to keep maintenance on your car will dictate how much longer it will last.  So I would like to offer a couple of tips from my experience owning a San Diego auto repair company.

One of the problems that gets overlooked alot is not keeping your car in good clean running order. Why does this matter?Because you can't keep your care running efficiently this could lead to the failure of the smog test.If you can't pass the smog test, this can be the start of some expensiver repairs.  I have seen this time and time again from doing San Diego smog check.

All you really need to do is to be sure that you change the oil on a regular schedule. Also be sure that you are able to get the car in for regular tuneups.

Second problem not looked after a lot is your brakes.  You don't pay much attention to them. But everybody is positive that it is critical for safety. But if you are unable to maintain it, this can lead to an expensive repair.  I should know having to charge my clients to replace their brakes at my San Diego brake shop.

Be sure that when you are braking that you do not be too rough on them. Be prepared for all your stops and then apply the brakes slowly.  Also make sure the brake fluids are enough. This can add up to a lot of money saved in repairs.

Do these couple of things and you will save a lot of money in repairs. When you are forced to own your cars longer, you will be pleased that you did do it.

Brake Dangers

There are a lot of parts to your car you need to keep an eye on.  In this day and age of cars having everything automated, a lot of times maintenance of your car gets neglected.  Believe me I have seen it all owning a San Diego auto repair shop.

After all, with cars that used to be cheap cars, like Hyundai's being state of the art driving machines, it is easy to think nothing can go wrong with them.

That is a huge mistake.  There are aspects of maintaining your car that still needs to be paid attention to.  Most people take care of oil changes and things like that.  Although that is important for the life of your car, what most people neglect is their brakes.  Which is of extreme importance to their life and their family's lives.

So let's take a look at your brakes and knowing when it is time to change them because they have become unsafe.

First sign of brakes needed to be replaced is when they grind or scratch.  Usually this is a sign of the metal plates being gone that are supposed to hold the brake pads and now it rubs against the rotor.  This is not a good sign and you want to have your brakes replaced as soon as possible.

Second sign is when you have high pitch noises or loud screeching made by your brakes.  This happens by a condition they call glazed.  This happens if a person uses the brakes excessively which causes the rotors to get too hot.  The rotors then are burned.

You fix this by going to a brake shop like my San Diego brake shop.

Vibrations are a third problem.  When your rotors or drums are warped, when you are braking this will cause a vibration. This happens when their is too much heat and this causesthem to lose their shape.  When this happens, your rotor needs to be replaced.

The last problem to take notice of is when your brakes start to pull.  When you are braking, what will happen is your vehicle is pulled in one direction.  This happens when your brakes caliper is not getting applied evenly.  This is caused by a fluid leak.  To find out which side is leaking, you are going to need a mechanic to take a look at it.  You can fix this by removing the air out of the brakes and replacing the caliper.

These are the common problems with brakes.  When this does happen you need a shop that fixes brakes like we fix San Diego brakes.

When you consider your brakes are what prevents you from having accidents and running into things, this is a part of your car's maintenance, you never want to neglect.
